Michael started his career in the City with Slaughter
and May having
qualified in 1977, and has been a partner with Wortley Byers, a
commercial law firm based in Brentwood, Essex, for about 25 years.
He currently heads the Corporate Commercial Department and advises
on a broad range of commercial issues including takeovers, mergers,
joint ventures, shareholders and investment agreements, directors' rights
and duties and agency and distribution agreements.
He has a particular interest and experience in advising on the sale and
acquisition of insurance broking firms. He also advises Charities and not
for profit organisations and is a trustee of two Essex based charities.
Michael is also a Notary, a member of the Council of The Notaries
Society, and is a liveryman with the Worshipful Company of Scriveners.
He is also an Underwriting Member of Lloyd's. He has a keen interest in
languanges, books and golf. He was appointed a director of Alan Turner
Limited in 1998.
