MANAGEMENT ADVICE | WHEN
TRAVELLING
Travelling can often involve a degree of risk, especially when
travelling alone,
where there is unfamiliarity with your surroundings
and limited knowledge of local customs or language.
Some common sense actions can help reduce the risks
involved substantially:
• |
Prepare an itinerary for the trip if possible, listing hotels
and other
visits together with relevant telephone numbers. Give a copy of
this itinerary
to your partner or other close relative.
|
• |
Take a mobile phone and battery charger. Make sure the phone is
enabled to make and receive international calls.
|
• |
Ensure that you have a travel insurance card with emergency number.
|
• |
Take note and enter onto your phone the various local emergency
service numbers.
|
• |
Do not display expense jewellery or luggage. ‘Dress down’ if
possible.
|
• |
Do not carry a large amount of cash but always have cash with you for an
emergency. |
